BIGSMACK Nabs Key Awards at PromaxBDA 2012
Entertainment Agency's Work For A&E and Nat Geo Spotlighted DMN Newswire--2012-7-27--BIGSMACK, the award-winning collective of creative strategists, directors, producers, editors, designers, animators, audio engineers and musicians, has added a new shelf to their awards case thanks to their huge haul of Gold, Silver and Bronze statues at the North American PromaxBDA Awards, held recently in Los Angeles.

BIGSMACK's teaser campaign for season two of A&E's popular crime drama ''The Glades'' took home Gold, as well as their Nat Geo on-air promo and print campaigns for the show ''Brain Games.'' The company nabbed Silver awards for their work on ''The Glades'' print campaign, and for the on-air promo for Nat Geo's ''George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview'' and ''The Indestructibles.''

In all, BIGSMACK won 5 Gold's, 3 Silver's and 2 Bronze awards, in both broadcast and print catagories. In addition their work on these campaigns was spotlighted in three separate sessions at PromaxBDA.

For Andy Hann, BIGSMACK's Creative Director, the huge win was incredibly rewarding.

''We're proud of the response PromaxBDA gave our work for A&E and Nat Geo,'' Hann says. ''What is most rewarding is the projects that we won for are ones we were fully involved with from the beginning -- from creative strategy through production, design and post. That full-service, integrated approach has always been part of our agency's DNA, and I think the fact those won validates both our creative ability and our process.''

Gold For Glades And Brains
One of the Gold winners was the teaser campaign for A&E's ''The Glades'' second season, which begins with a dramatic shot of a glorious sunset behind a photo real 3D animated orange. The word ''Sunny'' hovers ominously above the imagery. As the camera tracks back, the mood turns dark as the sun is eclipsed by the orange and the words ''with a chance of homicide'' are abruptly split in half by a knife piercing the orange. The spot ends with an overhead shot of the orange bleeding over The Glades logo.

Nat Geo's ''Brain Games'' campaign -- both on-air and print -- plays off the show's concept featuring a series of head-scratching visual puzzles. The premiere of Brain Games led to the network's second-highest highest prime-time rating. The first highest was the ''George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview,'' which BIGSMACK also worked on resulting in a Silver award.

''In many ways 'The Glades' and 'Brain Games'' were opportunities for us to showcase what we?re capable of creatively when we partner with our clients -- from concept development to mounting complex location production, through intricate 3D animation, design and post,'' Hann says. ''Our clients showed a lot of trust in us, and I'm gratified their trust wasn't misplaced.''
